Catching Up

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the long delay between blog posts.

From where I sit, I don’t see a lot of day to day chances since Billy’s surgeries. One of the last things that the Neuro doctor said to me was that many coma patients who have the same surgeries often show signs of improvements afterwards. They may become more active in their movements of the arms and legs, or their personality begins to emerge. We warned me to be patient. We might not see any changes for two week. It’s almost 1 month now and I have not seen any improvements. In fact, it looks to the family that he has taken a step back.

Ok, Dan. I hear you reminding me that improvement are coming in micro-steps.

He was “capped off” for a few days after the surgery, but now his chest is being suctioned more than he should be. When I was with him yesterday his nurse said that she had asked Billy’s doctor to fill a prescription to help with clearing the mucous (finally). His eyes are open a lot during the day and we are beginning to see some emotions on his face - a smile, a sneer, confusion. He can be very expressive! Image that!

No doubt the BEST MEDICINES were visits from family. His aunt & uncle came for a week-end. Then his grandmother, Nan, the following week. I believe it was good medicine all around.

Billy’s next CT Scan is scheduled for Nov. 5th. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Many thanks and much love for your continued support. Whether it’s a phone call, a quick text, or a card they all seem to arrive just when we need an extra boost of courage, patience or a “you got this”

Be well .
